Tokio Hotel/ DAA fundraiser update: Tokio Hotel has yet-to-be-revealed plans in the works

On World AIDS Day earlier this month, it was reported that the German band, Tokio Hotel was teaming up with Designers Against AIDS for a month-long fundraiser to raise money for AIDS. The band even sent out a special video message to fans to promote the fundraiser and to encourage fans. So far, the Tokio Hotel fans have responded, proving that they are a generous lot. Early on in the fundraiser that the band is doing with Designers Against AIDS, Nanette Murk,Director of DAA report that many of the fans, who are too young to have money of their own, are attempting to raise money in other ways.

According to an email interview, Murk is reporting that fans are helping in other ways as well: baking and selling cookies, sponsored walks, walking their neighbours' dogs, asking people for donations in shopping malls, at schools and on the streets...more ideas and events are coming up -also from Tokio Hotel- but I can't possible unveil those yet;-)!

So far, Murk reports that there have been 425 donations, totalling 2250 euros--a little over $3,000. Of course, behind each euro raised is an individual story. One group who has a story of its own to contribute is the Official Houston Texas Tokio Hotel Fan Club, who has been involved with the fundraiser since the beginning.

Tracie Ramirez, speaking for the group via email had this to report.
Our first weekend we collected over $160.00 dollars ( in 2 days) and our second weekend we collected over $100.00 dollars (in 1 day) and we will continue to go out on the streets of Houston Texas for the next two weekends of December until the 31st when all donations are due in to DAA.

The fundraiser will continue for about another two weeks until the end of December. Murk encourages fans to really participate—not only is it a good cause, but the band is offering lots of goodies as well. She writes that fans have a big chance of winning one of the prizes (hand signed t-shirts and concert tickets with a meet & greet) that the band gives to fans who donate directly via this link before December 31st.

A final report about this fundraiser is in the works and will be released within the next several weeks.
