German moms stand up for Tokio Hotel in response to recent poll

On Saturday, it was reported that in a recent poll taken in Germany cited both German Chancellor, Angela Merkel and the German band, Tokio Hotel as bad role models for kids in Germany. However, according to a new report in Europolitan.de, many German mothers—one of the groups cited in the poll—have stood up in defense one of Germany’s favorite bands.

According to the previous report, Tokio Hotel ranked as one of the top ten bad influences on kids. Others who made the list were the rappers Sido and Bushido, but also German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.

Beg to Differ

However, the opinion of many German mothers made their way onto the internet forums in defense of Tokio Hotel. One mother, who Europolitan.de called Gitte, had this to say; "What utter nonsense! My 15-year-old daughter is an avid fan of TH. For three years I have accompanied her to many concerts. The guys make good music, we look forward to the next tour! …I have met many other mothers at the concerts in recent years, who had the same opinion."

Another mother, who only identified herself as a guest on the forum stated that she herself—although being 30 years old—was a Tokio Hotel fan. She also made a point of saying that she didn’t understand why so many other mothers believed what the media reported about the band.

The remark was in reference to the trouble that band member, Tom Kaulitz had with an obsessed fan at a Hamburg gas station in April of this year. Another reader commented on the matter by saying that the video isn’t clear, and that the woman (Perrine D.) was a stalker and not a fan.

Other mothers from age 36 to 42 also made their opinions of the band known. While one stated that violence isn’t an answer and that stalking would be enough to make anyone crazy, the other admitted that she, too had gone to concerts with her daughter.

The article generally concluded that the band probably isn’t a bad influence on young kids today. But then again, Tokio Hotel fans know that already.
