Tokio Hotel update: Tom Kaulitz reaches a financial settlement with fan

Over the space of many months, the German band Tokio Hotel has had its share of trouble with a girl gang who calls themselves “The Afghans on Tour”. They have been following the Kaulitz twins, Tom and Bill, around relentlessly for months, sending threatening notes, throwing eggs at their cars and finally, in April this year things came to a head between Tokio Hotel guitarist, Tom Kaulitz and Perrine D., one of the girls in the group. According to an insider to the Bild they [the girls] deliberately wanted to provoke the boys, they meticulously prepared their attacks and were pelting their cars.

The Rest of the Story

The provocation worked. On the April night in question, the girl gang followed Kaulitz from his recording studio in Lueneburg to a gas station in Hamburg, where a scuffle of sorts between Kaulitz and Perrine took place. Here’s the backstory: the woman [Perrine] took a photograph of Kaulitz through the window while at the gas station.
According to the Bild report, he rolled down his window and threw his cigarette at her, which she then put out on the window of his car.
That’s when Kaulitz reportedly got out and hit her and shoved her to the ground. The Local reported that he also shoved another woman against the back of his car, before getting back in and driving away. The Bild writes that Perrine sustained injury to her eye and ear as a result of the incident.

Now it looks as if it’s time to settle the matter. The Bild reported on the 9th that the Hamburg’s prosecutor’s office has filed charges of assault against Kaulitz.

A surveillance video from the gas station in Hamburg where the incident took place has been released. Perrine’s lawyer has said that Kaulitz not only roughed up Perrine, but hit her. However, what actually happened is a bit unclear because of the quality of the tape.

Out of Court Settlement

This saga between Kaulitz and Perrine resulted in her getting a lawyer and attempts to settle the matter. This week, it looks like there has finally been movement toward resolution. According to information on the Tokio Hotel Network website, there was a financial settlement for damages made between Perrine’s lawyer and Kaulitz’s lawyer for 2000€.

However, Kaulitz may still have to make an appearance in court. While the story in the Bild claims that charges have been filed against Kaulitz, according to an article in the Salzburger Nachrichten, David Jost, the band’s manager told the German Press Agency on Thursday that there have been no charges brought against Tom Kaulitz from the prosecutor’s office as of today. If there will be charges or if there really will be a trial, that is still unclear.

Additionally, there have been some recent suggestions in the German media that Perrine herself could face charges of harassment. However, whether or not that will come to pass has not yet been said.
